The Art Of Asset Building
Julia Buran, Asst. Professor Stephanie Smith, and the Wisconsin Committee to Prevent Child Abuse.
This project synthesized current research on early childhood asset development along with the benefits of art and creative activities to create resources for Dane County parents and family service agencies.
Wisconsin Intergenerational Network: A WINning Proposition for All Ages
Margaret Ries, Asst. Professor Stephanie Smith, and the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program and Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups
This project involved compiling and converting archived data into distributable formats to assist the Wisconsin Intergenerational Network (WIN) in promoting its programs.
Salvation Army Learning Center
Frederick Boehm, Anders Olson, Asst. Professor Stephanie Smith, and The Salvation Army
This project developed a learning center at the Salvation Army's homeless shelter. The goal was to provide children with an atmosphere that was intellectually stimulating.
The Acting Project
Jenny Kraftcheck, Asst. Professor Susan Naeve-Veluth, and Family Enhancement-Shore to Shore
The goal of this project was to link Deaf and Hard of Hearing adolescents with children and adult members of Shore to Shore while providing age-appropriate activities.
GuardCare Free Mobile Health Clinic & Smoking Cessation Seminar
Kenneth Davis, Joshua Know, Angela Rekowski, Jeff Nicholson, and the Division of Health Bureau of Public Health Northern Regional Office
The purpose of this project was to link UW-Madison Physician Assistant Program students with rural, medically under-served communities in Wisconsin. Participants operated a free, mobile public health clinic for one week.
The Homeless Youth Outreach Study

This study gathered information about homeless adolescents living on the streets of Madison.
"ASPIRE" (Achieving Success by Promoting Interest in Higher Education)
Jonathan Welch, David Jukam, Professor Marianne Bloch, and the African-American Ethnic Academy
ASPIRE encouraged elementary school students from minority and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to think about pursuing a college education.
What Is Normal?
Katharine Marshall, Joseph Connelly, Creative Community Living Services, and WYOU
This project produced three videos about the struggles and successes of people with developmental disabilities.
Tiahui Outreach Program
Ofelia Delgado, Anders Avila, Kathy Perez Castro, Asst. Professor Dionne Espinoza, and Guadalupe Pastoral Center
The Tiahui Outreach Program served Latina/o youth in Madison through comprehensive mentorship, academic skills development, and cultural empowerment.
Rasthma-T.A.S.
Chandall Gerasch, Stephanie King and Randall Elementary School
This project matched ten Randall Elementary School children and ten UW-Madison students who shared the common condition of asthma. Together they formulated an interactive exchange of health education and support. |
