Sponsored Volunteer Programs

Instead of volunteering on your own, we offer a variety of other special volunteering programs, committees, and ways that you can get involved in the community through a special program.

Badger Volunteers

Badger Volunteers is one of the newest initiatives sponsored by the Morgridge Center to provide meaningful and consistent service to the communities surrounding the UW-Madison and to support students in service. Teams of students partner with a community organization for a minimum of one semester. Each team receives education, training, and orientation on the organization, community, and social issue while providing meaningful weekly service. In this semester-long program, teams of students volunteer every week at local organizations in and around Madison under the coordination of a Badger Volunteer Leader. Students interested in volunteering sign up for a specific issue area early in the semester and begin volunteering as a group on a weekly basis the third week of the semester.

Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowships (WIF)

Have you ever wanted to build water filters in Uganda?  Address diabetes in Madison?  Or help address another community issue?  The Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowships are individual or group projects of a student(s), faculty member, and a community partner working together to address an issue.  Students can received stipends of up to $3000 and course credit for projects locally, nationally, or internationally.  Details, applications, and application deadilnes can be found here.

Schools of Hope Tutoring

Interested in tutoring?  Like working with kids?  Join the Urban League of Greater Madison and Centro Hispano of Dane County by volunteering as a Middle Schools of Hope tutor!!  Middle Schools of Hope is a program which aims to address the gap in academic achievement between African-American, Latino, and Southeast Asian students and their white counterparts in the Madison middle and high schools. More details and an application can be found here.
