Program Kits are now available! The Morgridge Center designed Issue Area kits to help you educate a group of students on an issue facing Madison residents.
Program Kits contain fun and meaningful educational materials to help you introduce an issue area to your student group. Program Kits include instructions for how to host a mini-workshop to help students learn the facts about Madison and resources for how they can get more involved!
Check out a Program Kit from our resource library highlighting one of the following issues:
What are Program Kits?
Program Kits are step by step instructional binders that contain specific information to help you host an educational event. Each binder contains a presentation outline that is flexible depending on your audience and time constraints. Each workshop can range from 60-120 minutes, depending what activities you choose. Each kit contains icebreakers, issue area quizzes, three different activities, and dialogue starters. All you need to do is select a facilitator and captive audience and you can get started.
What types of activities are in program kits?
Issue Area Quizzes: Do you know how many Madison residents live in poverty? Do know you how many students speak English as a second language in Madison schools? Find out by taking the quiz
Village of 100: If Madison were a village of a 100, how many people do you think would be homeless? How many would be hispanic? This activity helps students understand how community issues affect Madison.
Movie: Each kit has interesting films that you can check out which highlight each issue.
Display Materials: Each kit includes an interactive tri-fold display board that you can use to raise awareness. There are also materials to create your own display to keep.
These are only samples of all of the great activities in each kit.
Why use a program kit?
Program Kits are designed to engage students to learn about various community issues and how they can be involved. Sometimes talking about community issues can be daunting, dull, or overwhelming. Program Kits were created for college students and are designed to engage them in fun and meaningful ways, as well as integrate activities that cater to different learning styles.
