Volunteer Fairs

We hold two fairs each year to help non-profit agencies connect to campus, students, and faculty. They are each usually held the third week of the semester typically in September and January. In the Fall, the fair is soley focused on volunteer opportunities. However, in the spring we partner with the Career Services Office to sponsor the Public Service Fair. This fair includes agencies that have volunteer opportunities, internships, or careers in the government or non-profit sectors. Please check back soon for upcoming details on the Fall Volunteer Fair.

Volunteer Fair

September 24, 2009, 11am-2pm

Great Hall, Memorial Union

Criteria for participation in the Fall Volunteer Fair

Local Non-Profit Organizations: Community organizations in or around Madison utilizing volunteers are eligible to participate in the Volunteer Fair. With the exception of UW-Madison student organizations, participants must be registered agencies on VolunteerYourTime.org or members of Community Shares Wisconsin.

Campus Units: UW-Madison campus units or departments may participate in the fair as long as they are currently recruiting for volunteers.

Student Organizations: Student Organizations must be registered with the Student Organization Office. In addition, participating student organizations must have current volunteer opportunities, provide orientations, trainings, and reflections for their volunteers, provide volunteer data to the Morgridge Center, and agree to attend an hour long Morgridge Center orientation for student organizations. If you have questions about these requirements, please contact community@morgridge.wisc.edu or 608-263-2432.

Registration Information

NON-PROFIT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

The number of participants at the Volunteer Fair is limited to a maximum of 60 organizations. Participation is based on a first-come, first-served basis. If the registration limit is reached before the official deadline, further agencies requesting to participate will be notified that no space remains available. No exceptions can be made. Table assignments are made to organizations based on the order in which registrations are received.

Registration is all done online. Agencies will need to create an account, if you do not have one, and then sign up for the fair.

A registration deadline of ten (10) working days before each Volunteer Fair has been established to enable the Morgridge Center staff to process participant fees, meet with the Union’s setup staff, create a seating chart/map, and to develop and print signage and other necessary materials for the event in a timely fashion. This year's registration deadline is on September 11, 2009.

All agency participants will be assessed a fee for their participation in each Volunteer Fair. For the 2009 Fall Vounteer Fair the fees are as follows:

-Local Non-Profit/Campus Unit Half Table $25
-Local Non-Profit/Campus Unit Full Table $50
-National or International Half Table $50
-National or International Full Table $100
-Student organization: No fee

Half table registration includes one attendee. Full table registrations include two attendees.

The Morgridge Center for Public Service takes no responsibility for any items lost, stolen or left behind at the Volunteer Fair.

If an organization registered for the Volunteer Fair does not arrive by 11:30 p.m., their space can be given to another organization on the waiting list. If a registered organization knows it will arrive after the 12:30 p.m. deadline, they are responsible for contacting the Morgridge Center to hold their space.

If an organization cancels before the fair registration deadline, a refund of fees paid will be provided.

Questions can be directed to 608-263-2432 or community@morgridge.wisc.edu.
