Community Based Research
Community Based Research (CBR) engages students and faculty in research that will benefit a community organization or address a public issue. Through research collaboratively carried out under close faculty mentorship, students develop research skills and deepen their understanding of research and community needs. Unlike traditional academic research, CBR is collaborative and change-oriented and finds its research questions in the needs of communities with the purpose of solving a pressing community problem or effecting social change. Each CBR project will differ in time, scope, and method of research depending on the specific research topic. For more information about community based research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, contact Randy Wallar at jrwallar@wisc.edu.
